This program is the principal fundraiser for Scouting America's (formerly Boy Scouts of America) Troop 280 located in Dripping Springs, TX. Through your generous support and contribution, the Scouts will be able to attend and help pay for Summer Camp, Winter Camp, merit badge activities, weekend camping and high adventure camps, all of which further enriches their scouting experience and enhances their skill set as future leaders in our community.
Troop 280 services the following areas in Dripping Springs, Texas:
Businesses throughout Dripping Springs
Belterra neighborhood
Highpointe neighborhood
Meadow Oaks neighborhood
Reunion Ranch neighborhood
Rim Rock neighborhood
Sawyer Ranch neighborhood
Additional neighborhoods as the community grows
For your $80 contribution, members of Troop 280 will display a 3’X5’ American flag with a solar light on a 10-foot metal pole. The flag will be posted at your business or home seven times each calendar year for the following holidays:
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Presidents' Day
Memorial Day
Flag Day
Independence Day
Labor Day*
Veteran’s Day
For each of these holidays, the Scouts will post the flag prior to the holiday and retrieve the flag shortly after the holiday. The flag usually remains posted for about a week.
If you are a new subscriber, then a parent within the Troop will come out prior to the posting to install a metal sleeve into the ground that will remain there all year. The sleeve will hold the flag pole when Scouts come to post the flag. It will be aligned with the front door of your property but might need to be adjusted based on any landscaping that could cause damage to the flag. We will also paint a black star on the curb marking the proximity of the sleeve to assist Scouts when trying to locate the sleeve to install the flag for each holiday.
We ask that you keep any landscaping trimmed all year to prevent the flags from being torn. The main expense of the program is replacing torn flags from trees that are not trimmed away from the flags. Our goal is to send as much of the money raised towards the Scouts so we ask for subscribers help to limit flags being torn and needing to be replaced.
*We will try to time the flag retrieval to occur after September 11th.
Subscriptions are setup on a calendar-year basis. It is $80 for each flag requested at your business or home.
If you sign up later in the year, then the subscription will be prorated less $10 for each holiday missed. For example, if you send payment in August, then your subscription will include just two holidays and will be a total of $30 ($80 less 5 holidays missed).

The Troop holds a flag retirement ceremony each year for flags that are no longer suitable to be flown due to being torn or too weathered. The Scouts take turns leading this ceremony and they all learn the history and importance of the USA flag. The Flags Over Dripping program helps provide the opportunity for scouts to learn these things. Thank you!
Coming soon! We are currently setting up a nonprofit program so we can offer tax deduction receipts. We hope to get this setup by early 2026.
